For the first time this season, the Leafs have dropped three in a row in regulation.
The sky is falling once again.
Carter Hutton was in for Jay Rosehill on the Wednesday edition of Leafs Morning Take. Jokes aside, we began the podcast by discussing the mini skid and how much this team potentially misses Jake McCabe. Fortunately, it looks like the rocky steady blue liner could be ready to return on Thursday night against New Jersey.
Everything’s going to be okay, folks.
After that, we dove deeper into the 4-1 loss. Joseph Woll stopped 19 of 23 shots, Auston Matthews scored his 15th of the campaign, and the Leafs surrendered two power play goals. In a nutshell, that was the story. And yes, the Leafs failed to score a PP goal yet again. Furthermore, Toronto’s mustered only four goals during this three game slide. They’ve really been lacking exuberance. The dog days of the regular season have arrived. Meantime, the Steven Lorentz top-line experiment lasted half a game. It was fun to talk about —at least. Lastly, I made a point of bringing up Phil Myers. By far, I thought he was the best player on the ice for the blue and white. What a find by Brad Treliving and company!
Then, brought to you by Greta Bar, one of the best American goalies of all-time, Ryan Miller, stopped by the show. We got his thoughts on Toronto’s all-American crease, playing against the Leafs back in the day, and obviously, we got him to dissect his infamous preseason brawl with Jonathan Bernier. To boot, Milzy even did an electric Phil Kessel voice impression. Can’t believe the Kessel/John Scott thing is now over 10 years old. Time flies.
Jay Rosehill will be back in the mix for the Thursday edition of Leafs Morning Take. Join us at 11 AM ET as we tee up Sheldon Keefe’s return to Toronto. Also, the one and only Jackie Redmond (WWE/TNT/NHL) will grace us with her presence once again.
