TRIPLE-TRIPLE: Anna Leigh Waters is trying to win a Masters Triple Crown for the third straight year.

=== MEN’S SINGLES ===

#1 FEDERICO STAKSRUD

  • 2024: He earned a medal in every tournament except Kansas City and Virginia Beach.  (8 gold, 9 silver, 4 bronze).
  • Has now extended his own PPA record by winning a medal in 26 consecutive tournaments.
  • His 13 career men’s singles titles are second only to Ben Johns.

#7 JAUME MARTINEZ VICH

  • Last February, he lost the Desert Ridge Open final in three games to Federico Staksrud.
  • Won bronze medals in Houston, Las Vegas, and Virginia Beach.
  • Still seeking his first PPA title.

BRONZE:

#6 TYSON McGUFFIN 

  • His last title was in 2023, at the Tournament of Champions, against Garnett.
  • His six career gold medals is third all-time behind Johns and Staksrud.

#2 CONNOR GARNETT

  • 2024: Won the Los Angeles Open in April, vs Federico Staksrud.
  • 2024: Won his second career title in Kansas City, against Tyson McGuffin.

=== WOMEN’S SINGLES ===

#1 ANNA LEIGH WATERS

  • Did not allow more than four points in any of her eight games this week. (3.1 ppg avg)
  • Waters has 44 in her career titles, 12 in 2024.
  • Waters is 44-3 in singles finals, and this is her first final against Christian.

#5 KAITLYN CHRISTIAN

  • 2024: three silver medals (Austin, Bristol, Utah)…-none- were against Waters.
  • 2024: four bronzes (Desert Ridge, LA, Red Rock, Finals)
  • Christian’s win at Daytona Beach in December 2024 was her first. As a result, to start this season, every woman in the Top Ten has at least one title. 

BRONZE:

#4 CATHERINE PARENTEAU 

  • Her nine career women’s singles titles are second only to Waters.
  • Her last title was at the Tournament of Champions in August 2023.

#7 PARRIS TODD

  • Four silvers and two bronzes in 2024. 
  • Not in the Top 20 a year ago, she entered this season ranked #7.

=== MIXED DOUBLES ===

#1 ANNA LEIGH WATERS and BEN JOHNS

  • Waters and Johns have 43 titles together. (Waters, 45 overall; Johns, 58 overall)
  • 43-1 career record in finals (one loss to Bright/Daescu in 2024).
  • They have won 13 straight tournaments while playing together since last March.

#4 CATHERINE PARENTEAU and FEDERICO STAKSRUD

  • Staksrud has now extended his own PPA record by winning a medal in 26 consecutive tournaments.
  • Staksrud is still looking for his first Mixed Doubles title. (He won a silver in ’24)
  • Parenteau won four silver medals last year. Three with Christian Alshon and one with Riley Newman.)

BRONZE:

#7 TYRA BLACK and CHRISTIAN ALSHON

  • Black was in the Women’s Doubles final at Daytona Beach with Jorja Johnson. 
  • Alshon won three silver medals last year with Catherine Parenteau, along with two Men’s Doubles titles.

#5 RACHEL ROHRABACHER and JAMES IGNATOWICH

  • Rohrabacher won a bronze with Federico Staksrud at the World Championships last fall.
  • Ignatowich won six Mixed Doubles silver medals last year, all with Anna Bright. Four of those were in finals against Waters and Johns, including here last year.

=== MEN’S DOUBLES ===

#1 BEN JOHNS and COLLIN JOHNS

  • They have 33 titles together, and seven in 2024.
  • In title matches,19-3 since the start of 2023, and 33-7 overall.
  • A win today puts their overall match record at a very tidy 234-34.

#2 HAYDEN PATRIQUIN and FEDERICO STAKSRUD

  • Three championships together last year: Sacramento, Virginia beach vs Johns/Johns, and the PPA Finals.
  • Staksrud has now extended his own PPA record by winning a medal in 26 consecutive tournaments.

BRONZE:

#6 Christian Alshon and Andrei Daescu

  • Daescu has four titles since last March, including three weeks at Daytona Beach with CJ Klinger.
  • Alshon won the Bristol Open last August with Quang Duong.

#8 Augie Ge and Jaume Martinez Vich

  • This team lost in a final in four games to the Johns brothers in North Carolina last April.
  • Neither player has a PPA title.

=== WOMEN’S DOUBLES ===

  • These two teams won every tournament in the 2024 season except for the Red Rock Open (Jansen/Pisnik). Daytona in December is part of this 2025 season.

#1 ANNA LEIGH WATERS and CATHERINE PARENTEAU

  • Have 25 titles together, including 14 in 2024.  (25-3 record in finals)
  • They are 19-0 in finals against everyone excluding Bright and Rohrabacher.
  • Parenteau has 47 overall career gold medals: 9 in singles, 31 in doubles, and 7 in mixed.

#2 ANNA BRIGHT and RACHEL ROHRABACHER:

  • They were 8-6 in finals in 2024. 3-6 against Parenteau/Waters, and 5-0 against other teams.
  • 2024: Beat Parenteau and Waters in four games for the Austin Open title in March;  in four games again at the Atlanta Slam in September, and in three games at the Worlds in November.
  • Parenteau and Waters have lost only 15 games in finals together. Bright and Rohrabacher are responsible for ten of those 15.

BRONZE:

#21 Jackie Kawamoto and Vivian Glozman

  • Jackie won a bronze medal with Anna Bright three weeks ago at Daytona Beach, and a silver with her sister in Milwaukee in November.
  • Glozman won a silver with Lacy Schneemann at this tournament last April, losing to Bright and Rohrabacher in the finals. She also won a bronze at Bristol.

#3 Hurricane Tyra Black and Jorja Johnson

  • Won a silver at Daytona Beach three weeks ago, losing to Leigh and Anna Leigh Waters in the finals.
  • Neither player has a Women’s Doubles gold medal.
