BPL in serious trouble due to this massive reason!! Here’s what you need to know

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president, Faruque Ahmed, stepped up calls for tough actions against players and management officials guilty of match-fixing or spot-fixing. A report from several eyeball witnesses still claims that there is a conspiracy to rig some matches in the ongoing BPL and that the BCB is very careful monitoring the issue after receiving anonymous alerts.

It is reported by BCB Anti-Corruption Unit that eight matches are suspected of being works of spot-fixing or match-fixing. Currently, these cases are pending. A report further says that not less than 10 players and 4 out of 7 teams have cast a shadow of suspicion on them.

Out of 10 players who are under investigation, reportedly 6 have donned the Bangladesh jersey at the international level. 2 play domestic formats, while the other 2 are foreign players. The two franchises, namely, Durbar Rajshahi and Dhaka Capitals, have got 12 integrity flags raised, whereas Sylhet Strikers have 6 and Chittagong Kings just 2.

Finally, Farque did not want to dry the sea on this matter. According to him, an investigation is unfolding. If anyone is proved guilty, would face a strict ban, serving as an example to others.

“Look, it is not my place to make statements in this regard until the investigation is completed because there exists a protocol that we have to follow. The entire toll and the happenings gift to be documented are then investigated,” Faruque told Cricbuzz on Friday.

“It is a big ban-if we probe and come across something significant and we have luck to find something, then the life of such persons will be irrevocably changed, as I won’t spare anybody guilty at all. The decision will be once and for all and exemplary,” he added.

As it stands, this isn’t the first time that BPL has faced allegations of match-fixing. Former captain Mohammad Ashraful received a ban of eight years (with a three-year suspension) for spot-fixing in the 2013 edition of the tournament.
