Washington Nationals vs San Diego Padres Game Thread

The Nationals got a much needed win last night. Now they have a chance to win their first series out of the All-Star break. The Nats will have their ace MacKenzie Gore on the mound as he takes on his former team.

The Nats switched things up in the lineup today. Looking to get his star going, Miguel Cairo is putting James Wood in the DH spot. That will slide Daylen Lile to left field and put Alex Call in right field. Josh Bell will get the day off. So will youngster Brady House, who is out of the lineup in favor of Paul DeJong. Riley Adams will be back behind the plate to catch MacKenzie Gore.

The Padres have also made a few tweaks. Xander Bogaerts will DH today with Jose Iglesias taking his spot at shortstop. Elias Diaz will also be back behind the plate. Nick Pivetta carved up the Nats lineup in San Diego. The Nats will look to have more success against the right hander this time around. Pivetta is having the best season of his career.

A series win out of the break would be a good way to start the second half. It was a bitter first half, but hopefully the Nats can bring some hope back to the fanbase. Comment and follow along down below. Let’s go Nats!
