The Nationals set sail into PNC Park where they find five and eleven Pirates. Today will be the toughest tale of the four game series as they face stud pitcher Paul Skenes.
For the Nationals we still see Alex Call leading off in place of the absence of injured C.J. Abrams. Dylan Crews is back in the lineup, starting at center today. Crews in fact hit his first collegiate home run off of Skenes back in 2021. Hopefully we’ll get to see Crews do his best big league impression of that tonight.
Nasim Nuñez gets the nod at shortstop, this being his first action of the 2025 season. Called up from Rochester Nuñez was batting .192 to start the Tripe-A season. Paul DeJong slides back to third after playing shortstop yesterday. On the bump tonight is spot starter Brad Lord, he has never pitched against the Pirates.
The superstar pitcher Paul Skenes, who is widely regarded as one of the best pitchers in baseball, will be on the mound tonight. Skenes in his last outing vs St. Louis gave up the most earned runs (Five) he has ever given up in his career. Does Skenes bounce back or continue to slide?
For the lineup the Pirates have a few changes, Tommy Pham is back in left after having a day of rest. As well as utility man Isiah Kiner-Falefa who plays short today. Primary Catcher Henry Davis will rest and Endy Rodrìguez will be behind the plate.
