Sehwag lambasts CSK and Brevis for the controversial lbw decision

Former Indian team cricketer Virender Sehwag blamed Chennai Super Kings’ Dewald Brevis for his controversial dismissal during the IPL 2025 match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru. Brevis was given out LBW by Lungi Ngidi but had some doubts about it. He was heard chatting with Jadeja, and by the time he went to decide on the review, the seconds ran out, and the umpires informed him that his chance was gone. This caused quite a stir, with Jadeja going back and forth with the umpires.

Sehwag thought it was the player’s responsibility, not the umpires’. “Only Brevis can say why he didn’t take the review in time. Why the delay? It’s his fault, not the umpire’s. The timer is on the big screen. He ran for a single and then went for the second. Didn’t he realize he was given out?” Sehwag said on Cricbuzz.

He did admit that the decision was wrong, conceding that it was a mistake. The DRS is for the correction of such blunders. The moment the umpire made the call, the 15-second timer started. Sure, we did not see that on the screen, but why did he wait so long? he added.

Despite some fine performances from Ayush Mhatre and Ravindra Jadeja, RCB won that nail-biter by 2 runs. With this win, RCB topped the IPL 2025 standings, winning eight out of their 11 games. Meanwhile, a top IPL team shocked with their ninth loss, resulting in CSK bottoming out.
