Game Recap

Despite being down Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl, the Oilers started the game out of a cannon, outshooting the Stars 14-5 in the first period, but were unable to put the puck past Oettinger.

Johnston opened the scoring at 14:26, with a backhand to forehand move on a breakaway, beating Skinner over the left shoulder.

The Stars jumped to a 2-0 lead at 5:01 of the second frame after Roope Hintz’s backhand pass to a wide-open Robertson, who pulled Skinner out of position with a nifty backhand of his own and put it in for his 30th of the season.

Robertson scored his second of the night after he elected to keep the puck on a 2-on-1 and snapped it under Skinner’s right pad.

The natural hat trick was completed on the power play, after Robertson tipped in a Harley shot from the high slot for his third of the game and 32nd of the season.

Dating back to Monday night against the Wild, Oettinger had not allowed a goal in 109 minutes and 30 seconds before Perry finally put one past him at 9:30 of the third period on the power play. Perry collected the rebound at the left side of the crease and put it past Oettinger.

The comeback attempt continued, again on the power play, at 13:54 with a snap shot from the left circle by Henrique to cut the lead to 4-2.

With Pickard on the bench, Hyman scored the Oilers’ third goal in nine minutes at 18:35 to make it a 4-3 contest.

Oettinger made some huge saves down the stretch, and the Stars held on for a 4-3 win.

The Oilers outshot the Stars 45-24 and went 2-for-6 on the power play. The Stars were 1-for-3 with the man advantage.
