Although the Rays lost the series with the Cleveland Guardians, they can say with 100% certainty that they have won the trade that brought Yandy Diaz to Tampa Bay.
The Rays 34-year old Cuban slugger further cemented that over the past three games as he clobbered his 22nd homerun of the season on Monday, tying his career high in a single season, and hit 583/.615/1.083 over 13 plate appearances.
Thus far in 2025, Diaz is hitting .286/.345/.474 with 22 HR, registering a 124 wRC+ and accruing 2.0 fWAR over 548 PA. Diaz endured a short slump to begin the season, but since April 9th, Diaz is hitting .300/.360/.500 and registering a 136 wRC+ and accruing 2.5 fWAR over 403 plate appearances.
Diaz is now nearly finished with his 7th season since joining the Rays organization and he has proven himself to be one of the top offensive performers in franchise history, winning a batting title and Silver Slugger along with an All-Star game selection. Since joining the Rays, Diaz is hitting .288/.370/.446 with 96 HR, registering a 132 wRC+ and accruing 16.5 fWAR.
