Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment, WWE announce long-term strategic partnership

Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment and World Wrestling Entertainment have announced a long-term strategic partnership.

The partnership will invite multiple collaborations between the two enterprises, including merchandise collaborations, original content development, community programs, and cross-brand appearances from team players and WWE superstars. The collaboration comes after the Toronto Maple Leafs announced the addition of the WWE player of the game belt, awarded to the Maple Leafs player who performed the best in each win as decided by the previous recipient.

Alex Varga, co-head of revenue for WWE, said the following in a press release:

“Collaborating with an iconic organization like MLSE is a natural extension of WWE’s deep and growing connection with Toronto, which has included recent major events like Money in the Bank in 2024 and Elimination Chamber in 2025, and allows us to create new and authentic experiences for fans to reinforce our long-term commitment to the region.”

Phil King, chief business officer for MLSE, released the following statement:

“MLSE and WWE have a long and strong history together, teaming up many times over the years to create iconic entertainment moments for our fans, and we are thrilled to expand our partnership with WWE, a global leader in sports and entertainment, to create world-class content and build on Toronto’s standing as a leading market globally.”

Embedded in the press release was the news that Monday Night Raw will return to Scotiabank Arena on Monday, January 26, 2026, and WWE superstars will be in attendance for the Maple Leafs’ home games against the Colorado Avalanche on January 25 and the Buffalo Sabres on January 27. Subsequently, Maple Leafs players will be in attendance for Monday Night Raw in between the two games, an event that will be broadcast around the world to millions on Netflix.

The Maple Leafs have struggled so far in 2025-26, playing to a record of 8-8-1 through 17 games, so this announcement may not drill a ton of excitement to the fanbase, but it’s undoubtedly a huge collaboration opportunity that will further put the Maple Leafs on the map.
