Jason Gillespie rips off Sunil Gavaskar on his comments on Pakistan Cricket

For the people around the world, Pakistan’s cricketing downfall in the years is a recurrent topic which continues to evoke theories and explanations. The Rizwan-led side was unable to win even a single game at the ICC Champions Trophy in 2025. With their exit in the group stage and nobody in the world being able to dispute it, the enormity of Pakistan’s hollow performance received the stamp of approval when Indian cricketing legend Sunil Gavaskar remarked that even India’s B team might manage to have their scalp.

Jason Gillespie however, the former coach of Pakistan who was removed from his post before the Champions Trophy, does not coincide with Gavaskar’s remarks. Gillespie called Gavaskar’s comments utterly nonsensical, urging the players to be with the right team and be backed up by time to take the Pakistan team forward.

“I don’t buy this rhetoric. I saw some comments from Sunil Gavaskar about the Indian B team or Indian C team would beat the Pakistan top team. That’s nonsense. Absolute nonsense. If Pakistan pick and stick with the right players and give them time to shine and, time to learn and develop their games, they can beat anyone. I’ve got no doubt about that,” insisted Gillespie.

Gavaskar had noted that a B team from India could surely beat the Pakistani team quite comfortably, but he was not so sure if the C team could achieve that.

“C team. I’m not too sure about that. But a B team would be very, very hard to beat for Pakistan,” Gavaskar added in an interview with Sports Today.

The Pakistan cricket team has undergone plenty of changes over the last couple of years, ranging from captaincy, selection panel, and even the board. A few more changes are expected, as part of a knee-jerk reaction that is expected after the team failed to qualify for the Champions Trophy semi-finals.
