It was a nice win against New Jersey but the Leafs better be ready for red-hot Montreal: Leafs Morning Take

Producer Vick is feeling better about life.

That’s because Toronto’s game losing skid is now a thing of the past.

That said, we started the Friday edition of Leafs Morning Take by discussing the rapidly evolving J.T. Miller situation in Vancouver. The Kings punted the Canucks on Thursday night, and putting it bluntly, Miller was awful. In fact, he was stapled to the bench for a good chunk of the game. Something has to give, right? Additionally, we also touched on Sheldon Keefe’s video tribute. Over the years, regardless of what’s transpired, he’s been the epitome of class.

Then, we got into the nuts and bolts of it as we broke down the 4-3 OT victory. First and foremost, the big boys came to play. William Nylander scored twice – including the OT winner, so did Auston Matthews. Additionally, Mitch Marner picked up two apples while Jake McCabe was an absolute beast in his return from a 4-game absence. The rock steady blueliner had two helpers, a plus-three rating, two hits, five blocks, and logged a game-high 24:16. What an animal!

As mentioned, it was great to see Nylander back up his chill quote from the other with a three-point performance. He was money in the bank. Over and above all that, we did talk about Joseph Woll fighting it a bit as well as Holmberg and Timmins having rough nuts. Bottom line, though, they found a way to get the job done.

After that, we played another edition of Take It OR Leaf It. We debated whether the Leafs will finish with more regular season points than the Devils, if Toronto will acquire a centre before John Tavares’ injury return, and if the Leafs should seriously consider bringing in John Klingberg.

The Leafs will be in Montreal on Saturday night. We quickly talked about that sneaky big game. The Habs have been on fire. They’ve won 11 of their past 14 games. The season series is tied a one game apiece.

Whatever happens, make sure to join us on Monday at 11 AM ET for a full recap that one plus a look ahead to Leafs/Bolts on Amazon Prime. The Fourth Period’s David Pagnotta will be in for Jay Rosehill as co-host.
