England pacer Olly stone set to be out of action due to injury

Olly Stone, the England fast bowler, will miss most of a five-match Test series against India after having knee surgery that will take him out for 14 weeks. He last played for England in September against Sri Lanka and was hoping to play more with Nottinghamshire this season. Unfortunately, ongoing injury issues mean he’s in for a long recovery as the county season kicks off on Friday. He’ll be joining Mark Wood and Brydon Carse on the sidelines as the domestic campaign starts.

The England and Wales Cricket Board announced that Stone will be out of all cricket for 14 weeks following scans and surgery this week confirming a right knee injury. He felt more pain during Nottinghamshire’s pre-season tour in Abu Dhabi last month, and recent scans showed he needed surgery. Now, he’ll start rehab and work with the medical teams at the ECB and Nottinghamshire.

England is set to play Zimbabwe in a one-off Test on May 22 before facing India, with the series beginning on June 20. Stone could be back for the last two Tests, but it’s more likely he’ll return to play for the London Spirit in the Hundred, starting on August 5.
