Eddie Howe statement – Official update ahead of Newcastle’s final five games

As we know, Eddie Howe has missed the last three games after being hospitalised with pneumonia.

This saw Jason Tindall step in over a crucial period in our season, where we followed back-to-back wins over Man Utd and Crystal Palace with a disappointing 4-1 defeat to Aston Villa last Saturday.

Heading into Saturday’s 3pm kick-off at home to Ipswich, the club have issued a statement on Howe’s condition and it’s the best possible news ahead of a huge weekend on Tyneside.

In a short but hugely positive update on Thursday morning, the club have announced that Eddie Howe has returned to work.

A statement reads: ‘Newcastle United are delighted to confirm that Eddie Howe has returned to his duties at the club’s Training Centre.

‘Eddie had recently been hospitalised with pneumonia and has now returned to work after a period of recovery. We thank supporters for their warm wishes.’

Brilliant news on all levels, not only to have our boss back in action but to know that he’s made a full recovery.

The Athletic have confirmed that Howe left hospital last week, has been at home regaining his strength and returned to training yesterday to take the session.

It’s not clear if he or Tindall will oversee tomorrow morning’s press conference, but Howe WILL be in the dugout on Saturday in a huge game at home to Ipswich.

They report that Howe suffered no ill-effects during yesterday’s sessions and feels ready to return, with a cautious approach clearly taken over the past week after he contracted such a nasty infection.

Great to have you back and in good health again, Eddie!
