Atlanta Braves starter Spencer Strider has a Grade 1 hamstring strain, per report

Today should’ve been Spencer Strider’s second start of the regular season and his first start back at Truist Park in just over a full year. Instead, Strider ended up going right back on the shelf after just one start when he injured himself playing catch. It’s extremely unfortunate but this is also a sport where we’ve seen players injure themselves outside of games in some of the weirdest and wackiest ways.

The good news is that we now have an update on the severity of Strider’s injury and fortunately, it doesn’t appear to have been as bad as it possibly could’ve been. Mark Bowman of MLB.com was the first to report that Strider has a Grade 1 Hamstring Strain.

With the caveat that it’s a Grade 1 strain, the obvious hope is that he’ll be able to get back in action in a few weeks from now. As Bowman’s tweet mentioned, we won’t know for sure what his recovery timetable is — especially considering that hamstring strains are still pretty tricky. Still, this is certainly better than what it could’ve been and at this point, the Braves will take anything even resembling a win when it comes to injuries.

They’ve had a incredibly rough go of it as far as injuries are concerned since the start of the 2024 season and while this is another piece of horrible luck, things certainly could’ve been worse than how they ended up turning out. All the Atlanta Braves and Strider can do now is be patient, wait for healing and hopefully get Strider rocking and rolling for real once he’s fully healthy.
