Agent denies Newcastle story – £55,000 wages set to block January transfer?

Over the past few weeks, a few bits of January transfer gossip have emerged from the media, covering both potential ins and outs on Tyneside.

One right-back linked is Celta Vigo’s Oscar Mingueza, while current option Emil Krafth has been receiving interest from FC Copenhagen, as reported by The Mail’s Craig Hope.

However, despite interest from the Danish giants, it looks like Krafth will not be leaving for them this winter, as his agent has now explained in a new interview.

As revealed by Fotball Direkt, Krafth’s agent, Patrick Mörk, has explained that the Superliga side would not be able to match the player’s wage demands, with the report stating that he currently takes hom £55,000-per-week on Tyneside.

Mörk also suggests that Newcastle are happy to keep him for the remainder of the 2025/26 season, although that could see Krafth depart on a free transfer next summer now his contract is approaching the final six months.

Discussing the Copenhagen links, he said:

“FCK (Copenhagen) is a great club, but his salary is far too high for all Scandinavian clubs.

“But then it is also about Newcastle not wanting to let him go.”

With that in mind, it seems he must either compromise on his current wage demands or hope another club comes in with a suitable offer in the new year.

If not, we can expect to see Krafth stay and depart on a free at the end of the season.
