Jamie Smith achieves this elusive milestone for England in tests

In the second Test at Edgbaston, England’s wicket-keeper Jamie Smith played well against England. At 24, he came in when the team was in trouble at 84/5. He and Harry Brook put together a great 303-run partnership, which helped England recover, but they still trailed by 180 runs after the first innings.

Smith made history with his score of 184 not out. He now has the record for the most runs by an England wicket-keeper in Test cricket. If he had gotten support, some might say he could have scored his first double century.

The 303-run partnership got England back in the game. Even after losing five wickets, Smith and Brook kept playing aggressively and helped close the gap. The Indian bowlers struggled for the most part, but after Brook was out, wickets fell quickly. Six England batters were out for a duck, which is the most ducks for England in a single Test innings.

Brook initially led the charge with 158 runs, but Smith’s aggressive style took off the pressure. Indian bowler Mohammed Siraj stepped up in the third session on Day 3, taking six wickets. It’s worth noting that India has never lost a Test when Siraj has taken five or more wickets, they won twice and drawn once.
