Adil Rashid overtakes Graeme Swann making this elusive record for England

England spinner Adil Rashid has now passed the great Graeme Swann for the most international wickets by an England spin bowler. Swann had 410 wickets, but after taking four wickets against the West Indies in the second ODI on Sunday, Rashid has 412. In his ten overs, he dismissed Brandon King for 59, Shimron Hetmyer for 4, Gudakesh Motie for 18, and Alzarri Joseph for 10, giving away 63 runs with an economy rate of 6.30. This marks the 12th time Rashid has taken four or more wickets in an ODI. The Windies were all out for 308 in 47.4 overs.

Rashid reached this milestone in his 294th match, with an average of 30.94 and an economy rate of 5.45; his best figures are 5 for 27 against Ireland. In 151 ODIs, he has picked up 221 wickets at an average of 32.44, and his economy rate is 5.65. He’s also England’s top wicket-taker in T20Is with 131 wickets.

Keacy Carty took advantage of some missed chances from England to score a solid century, reaching 103 off 105 balls. The West Indies were cruising at 205 for 2 but collapsed to 308 all out. England aims to secure their first ODI series win since September 2023.
