Caps Clipped By Kuemper, Kings, 3-0

The Washington Capitals fell to the Los Angeles Kings, 3-0, Thursday night at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles. The loss snaps a five-game winning streak and drops the Capitals’ record to 43-15-8 (94 points) on the season.

LINEUP

Charlie Lindgren (15-10-3, 2.64 GAA, .899 sv%) got the start between the pipes for the visiting Capitals. Darcy Kuemper (20-8-7, 2.27 GAA, .915 sv%) got the start in goal for the Kings. The starting forward lines and defensive pairs for the Capitals:

Roster moves: Jakub Vrana was waived by the team this week and claimed by the Nashville Predators. Anthony Beauvillier was acquired from the Pittsburgh Penguins for a second-round draft pick last Friday.


1ST PERIOD

The Kings opened the scoring late in the first frame. Warren Foegele (19) tucked home a loose puck in close for the initial tally. T. Moore (17) had the lone assist.

And that was it for the first frame. The Kings led in five-on-five shot attempts, 16-11, and expected goals for, 0.76 to 0.41.


2ND PERIOD

The Capitals and Kings skated to a scoreless draw in the middle frame. The Kings led in five-on-five shot attempts, 15-14, and expected goals for, 0.30 to 0.29.


3RD PERIOD

The Kings stretched their lead to 2-0 early in the final frame on a snipe from Kevin Fiala (25) at 1:05. A. Kopitar (37) and D. Doughty (6) had the helpers.

The Kings quickly increased their lead. Quinton Byfield (16) made it 3-0 at 1:52. K. Fiala (19) and V. Gavrikov (20) had the assists.

That was it, as the Kings held on for the 3-0 shutout.
