Leafs practice notes: Nicolas Roy ruled out vs. Blues, Troy Stecher makes strong 1st impression
Berube shuffled the lines again, partly out of necessity. Nicolas Roy was absent from Monday’s practice, and Berube confirmed that Roy will miss Tuesday’s game against the St. Louis Blues with an upper-body injury.
Quillan recorded two goals and 14 points in 14 games with the Marlies, and was placed alongside Matias Maccelli and Bobby McMann during Monday’s practice.
“Good guy, a solid guy,” Berube said of Stecher. “Character stands out to me, effort. I thought he had a good practice today. He plays hard. He’s a compete guy. He competes on everything and plays a pretty simple game.”
Troy Stecher, wearing no. 28, leads the Leafs’ stretch at practice.
“Excited for a fresh start. Obviously, seeing the team and how competitive they are and where they are on standards. I know it’d be a motivated group that I’ll be joining. It kind of goes hand-in-hand with the way I play. It’s a lot of motivation and I have a chip on my shoulder,” Stecher said following Monday’s practice.
