England captain Kane misses training ahead of Wales friendly

Harry Kane did not take part in England training ahead of Thursday’s friendly with Wales.

The Three Lions host their neighbours at Wembley before travelling to Riga to take on Latvia in World Cup qualifying on Tuesday.

England will clinch qualification for the World Cup finals with a win over Latvia if Serbia fail to beat Albania on Saturday.

Bayern Munich striker Kane suffered a late knock against Eintracht Frankfurt last Saturday.

And he did not join the England squad for their outdoor session on Wednesday at St George’s Park. Instead, he and Bayer Leverkusen defender Jarrell Quansah followed an individualised programme indoors.

Ollie Watkins could start up front against Wales if Kane is not fit enough to feature. Marcus Rashford and Anthony Gordon are also in the squad as forwards who can operate as central strikers if required.
