Playing in the Bronx is always a little different. There is more juice and excitement when you square off against baseball’s most historical team. The Nats have come off two hard fought series against the Phillies and a series win against the Mets. If the Yanks aren’t careful, the scrappy Nats could surprise them.
Interestingly, Daylen Lile is out of the Nats lineup for a second straight game. Manager Miguel Cairo said it was due to an illness. Without him, James Wood, Jacob Young and Dylan Crews make up the outfield. Robert Hassell III will DH. Brady House will get the day off, with Paul DeJong playing third base. After a pinch hit homer, Luis Garcia Jr. returns to the lineup. Riley Adams will be catching Brad Lord.
While the Yankees are not playing their best ball, the lineup is scary. Aaron Judge is the main man and he will be DH’ing. A big story is shortstop Anthony Volpe’s struggles on both sides of the ball. He will be on the bench today. The versatile Ben Rice is one to watch behind the plate. Rookie Cam Schlittler will pitch.
